HD DVD PROMOTION GROUP
Membership of the HD DVD Promotion Group began for GM Records on 11th May 2007.
The organisation’s goal was promotion of this new format – the High Definition Digital Versatile Disc. This format was created by the DVD Forum and became the official replacement for the DVD. Thanks to close cooperation with members of the Promotion Group, GM Records had access to the most up-to-date information connected with the media and the content which can be achieved on this format. It could have been a response to the customers’ needs, which appeared on the evolving market. The Group assembled over 100 companies from around the world, whose number included such market leaders as Microsoft, Toshiba, Warner Home Video and Hewlett-Packard.
GM Records was a General Member of the Group, which gave it the opportunity to actively participate during the General Meeting at which election of the Members of the Management of the Group took place. These members were given a two-year mandate, thanks to which they coordinated and supervised the activity of the HD DVD Promotion Group.
With regard to the market victory of the competing Blu-ray format, the HD DVD Promotion Group ceased its functions and disbanded.
