Under the project “Purchase of the most up-to-date lines of technology in the production of CDs and DVDs”, GM Records purchased a specialist CD and DVD pressing machine, up-to-date DVD disc injection moulds, efficient and fast drier-feeders of material to injection moulding machines and the newest CD and DVD testing machines. The main aim of the purchase of the above machines was an increase in international competitiveness in pressing through introduction of the highest technological level in the field of production and quality control of pressed mediums. Realising the project gives the possibility to produce HD DVDs, which have still not entered into commercial production.
Thanks to the European Union promotional program, it was possible to complete the “Purchase of lines of technology for interchangeable CD and DVD pressing”. The purchase comprised: machinery for interchangeable CD and DVD pressing with a DVD mould, a DVD injection mould, a drier-feeder of material to two injection moulding machines, a CD disc tester with a dual-speed player and a DVD tester with a quadruple-speed player. The new machines enable GM Records to implement innovation in interchangeable CD and DVD production technology on an international scale.
The increase in GM Records’ international competitiveness also results from the realisation of two projects introducing production of new types of disc: Mini DVD and DVD Plus. The two production lines purchased, each with 2 moulds, are designated for the above mentioned mediums. Under this program, we also acquired DVD injection moulds and drier-feeders of materials to the disc testers.
The modernisation of the machines is not just limited to improvement in the process of pressing itself. Under the subsidies awarded by the European Union, GM Records has improved service technologies surrounding production, such as printing on mediums. The project “Raising GM Records’ competitiveness through modernisation of the technology of printing on CDs/DVDs” enabled the purchase of automatic screen printing machines for the printing of optical discs and devices for direct exposure of anhydrous offset printing discs in printing mediums. As a result of realising the undertaking, GM Records will be able to achieve its strategic goal, which is an increase in the business’ innovation and international competitiveness.
Aside from the successfully invested subsidies, GM Records also uses European Union funds for consultancy. The resources of the Sectoral Operational Programme “Improvement of the Competitiveness of Enterprises” enable the drawing up of a multi-directional strategy for the company’s development. Within the assessment carried out to analyse the technology applied in the company, we compare this to those of international markets. On the basis of the results of this analysis, a technological strategy is drawn up, together with preparation for its implementation in the scope of technical, technological and organisational changes. Subsidies for consultancy also include drawing up a feasibility study on the implementation of selected production technology and new information technologies. The strategy also defines areas in which the company can develop its activity.
Thanks to the subsidies used by GM Records, and at the same time realisation of investment, the business has become a technological leader in the field of optical medium pressing possibilities in Poland. Machines purchased with finance from union resources have also caused an increase in competitiveness in international markets and long-term possibilities for the company’s development.
