Preparing the material for the print
Preparing the material for the print – rules
1.File format and how to supply the project
We accept materials in electronic form, (composite, high resolution files). The material can be supplied to GM Records in following ways:
- on CDs and DVDs,
- by e-mail,
- by sending it to the our FTP server
2. What the project should contain.
The supplied material should meet the following requirements:
a. If the project's colour space, e.g. RGB, is inappropriate, conversion is necessary, which may result in aberrations in colour compared to the original version. Projects must be only in CMYK colour space (complaints concerning those Project which are not in CMYK colour space will not be taken into consideration)
b. Fonts used in the projects ought to be embedded/attached or changed into curves
c. In the case of multiple page projects (including product packages) it is necessary to attach a mock-up showing the order and positioning of the design, and a way in which pages should be composed.
d. Every page in project ought to be a separate PDF page or a separate PDF file. Every file should have at least 3mm around for bleed.
e. Technical specification should show safe and bleed areas.
f. Total ink coverage in CMYK must not exceed 320% in soft poligraphy.
g. In CD/DVD designs black backgrounds should be intensified and contain 70% CMY and 100 % K.
h. In the case of text and smaller graphics 100% black overprint should be used.
i. In order to compensate changes in colour it is necessary to use colour trappings (chokes or spreads).
j. The way in which the surface is finished (trimming, page mounting, positioning of the pages before trimming, scoring and glue bonding) may cause inaccuracies, though whould be not greater than 1mm. Please consider this while designing.
3. Proofs and colour acceptance
For CMYK print it is advised to use an approved digital proof made by GM Records as colour scheme.
GM Records produces proofs and, if asked , also matchprints, which should then be accepted by customer.
Lack of acceptance of the proof/Matchprint means that customer agrees to proceed with print and must accept the colour differences between the project and the final print.
ATTENTION! After receiving project, we create a JPEG file and send it back for final, content acceptance.
If you don’t find a specification which corresponds to your needs, please contact Sales Department or Customer Service Department.
