13th all-Poland Sport Competition for Disabled Persons
Thirty employees, the representatives of the compact disc pressing company, competed in several sport disciplines, including archery, the long jump, putting the shot, throwing the rounders ball, throwing the javelin to a target, chess and table tennis.
‘Nearly 50 per cent of the persons employed by GM Records are disabled. Therefore, it is one of the priorities of our employee policy to create a friendly work environment for them. We are doing our best to fight against the stereotypical way of thinking about employing the disabled, and to help our employees with professional rehabilitation. One of the ways to achieve this aim is taking part in and animating the events which could help us to integrate further. When the ‘Jutrzenka’ Association organised this competition, we thought that it would be a wonderful opportunity to spend some time together,’ Marek Grela, the owner of GM Records says. ‘Events of this kind create favourable conditions for good fun and friendly atmosphere within the company, but also make us more sensitive to the problems of our work peers and promote understanding.’
The competition organised by the Sport and Rehabilitation for the Disabled Association ‘Jutrzenka’ in Sochaczew was also an opportunity to present an artistic programme: there was a majorettes performance and a demonstration of Capoeira – a Brasilian martial art. GM Records, which is a sponsor of the ‘Jutrzenka’ association, also financed the purchase of gifts for all contestants and for the invited guests.
