GM Records joins IRMA APCP

On 1 August, GM Records joined IRMA, the Anti-Piracy Compliance Program (APCP), and thus became a member of the group of 100 countries from Europe, USA, Asia, southern Africa and south-central America which support the idea of fighting against recording piracy.

The agreement of the companies which participate in the program aims at gathering producers and manufacturers of optical carriers who fight against piracy and promote the idea of intellectual property protection. Participants of the program, by joining it, declare and assure full protection and legality of the produced and duplicated carriers.

With exclusive membership, clients of the associated companies can be sure that their carriers will be appropriately protected and secured from illegal copying and company’s procedures will assure carriers safety consistent with IRMA standards.

‘The fact that GM Records was admitted to the group of companies which support IRMA program is a big distinction for us. It assures our clients full guarantee that their rights to intellectual property protection will be respected. Fight against piracy and support for such programs as that organized by IRMA is an important element of our operations,’ says Marek Grela, Management Board president at GM Records. ‘We also hope that soon we will become a company which not only supports IRMA actions, but a rightful member of this association. Currently, IRMA carries out verification of GM Records which will decide whether our company joins International Recording Media Association,’ he adds.

‘We are very happy that GM Records company supports our actions within the program of fighting against recording piracy. The fact that after the Polish Sejm adopted legal regulations concerning prevention of illegal copying of carriers, Polish companies started to join programs like ours, is very promising. Participation of GM Records in APCP is confirmation of the need and the reason for this program to exist,’ says Theo G. Köhler, director of IRMA Anti-Piracy Compliance Program in Europe, Africa and Near East.

IRMA Anti-Piracy Compliance Program (APCP) is a branch program of companies’ certification which makes it possible to reduce risk of illegal copying of optical carriers’ content which is protected by law. Protection standards established by the program are respected and acknowledged by the biggest companies – members of IRMA as well as by Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Motion Picture Association (MPA), Business Software Alliance (BSA), Software Information Industry Association (SIIA), Digital Software Association (DSA), International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) and Microsoft. The program is also supported by such organizations as: International Video Federation (IVF), Bureau International des Sociétés Gérant les Droits d’Enregistrement at de Reproduction Mécanique (BIEM) and Bescherming Rechten Entertainment Industrie Nederland (BREIN).
