The Icebreakers

Over 30% of all the GM Records employees are disabled. Despite all the legal and administrative problems connected with following this type of employment policy, GM Records has not given up its socially committed approach. Thus, one of the company objectives is an attempt to overcome stereotypes, also by means of providing assistance in professional rehabilitation.

- The employment structure at GM Records makes fully fit employees more sensitive to problems that others face, it has positive impact on internal integration, increasing our awareness of what disabled people have to contend with. We hope that working on an everyday basis with disabled persons not only helps us to understand the problem and overcome mental barriers, but also them to function in friendly work environment – says Marek Grela, the GM Board President.

The key objective of the Icebreakers contest is to prove that even in Polish conditions a lot can be done for professional rehabilitation of the disabled. Nevertheless, it is crucial to promote companies whose approach towards the problem is responsible and exemplary.

- We believe the contest to be a great opportunity to present those entrepreneurs who decide to hire disabled employees, in spite of all the unfavourable legal regulations. We wish to appreciate them and propagate them as possessing unique sensitivity and social responsibility – says Jan Zając, The POPON National Board President.
