The Symphony of Warsaw Uprising

GM Records, at the request of the Warsaw Uprising Museum, will produce a collection of CDs and DVDs which will commemorate events of the Warsaw Uprising.

The Symphony is a unique dedication for participants of the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. At the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the Uprising, all veterans will receive the CD. The four-part piece was composed by a young musician and pianist, Krzysztof Aleksander Jańczak. He made his debut during last year’s celebrations of the Uprising’s anniversary at the Krasińscy square, after the ceremony of calling of the roll of honour. The Symphony of Warsaw Uprising was performed by the Białostocka Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski.

Prelude of the Symphony is an euphoric musical story about preparations for the Uprising and enthusiasm of people who get ready for the fight. It contains famous songs of the Uprising such as ‘Mokotów March’ or ‘A little girl from the Home Army’. The march rhythm leads to the proper part which reflects moods of the fighters. The composer leads listeners through further events with the Nocturne music which represents steadfastness and belief in victory and describes sad view of the ruins and ashes of Warsaw in the next part – the March. The musical apogee of emotions and tension takes place in the Finale – a tribute to fighters of the Uprising – ten-minute crescendo ended with fanfares.

Next CDs and DVDs produced by GM Records will be not only a tribute to participants of the Uprising, but also a unique collection of documents, reports and information about the 63 days of fights. ‘Oral History Project’, second part of the series recorded on DVD, is a film in which interviews with witnesses and participants of the Warsaw Uprising were used. The DVD entitled ‘The Warsaw Uprising – days of independent Poland’ will contain a collection of maps, a chronicle, reports by participants of the Uprising, songs and radio broadcasts. Among the CDs and DVDs under preparation there will be one with songs of Joszko Broda and his singing kids.
