10 inches – EP (extended play) average size of the plate, speed: 45 obr. / ,in.
12 inches – Sing. (long play) plate about the greatest capacity, speed: 33 obr. / min
Emil Berliner was an inventor of gramophone records and the technology of their production. He recorded sound in the form of a horizontal wavy line on a thick layer of soot, from which after chemical hardening he got with galvanic road metal negative, being suitable for pressing plates of shelak mass. Thanks to creating the possibility of getting the copy in a large number of copies, Berliner became the author of the record industry. Discs are being made from the shellac varnish or the polyvinyl chloride from here vernacular – vinyl disc.
