Replication

TECHNOLOGICAL BASIS

GM Records keeps up with global trends in the field of replicating CDs and DVDs. The Replication Department’s machine park is systematically supplemented by equipment which uses the very latest technology. It is entirely based on production lines produced by Singulus, a German company, and injection moulding machines manufactured by the Swiss company Netstal – the leaders in producing this type of machinery. The machine park ensures the effective and efficient pressing of discs which achieves the highest quality.

Amongst others, the machine park includes:
• Mini CD and Mini DVD replication machinery,
• Machines for replication of the newest media on the Polish market – DVDplus,
• Machines for the replication of HD DVDs.

INNOVATION

The attractiveness of the final effect is ensured by:
• Modern machinery,
• Forms,
• Scanners eliminating defective discs installed in all final production lines,
• Testers serving verification:
    - mechanical parameters,
    - optical parameters,
    - electronic parameters,
    - compliance of the discs manufactured with Philips book parameters.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS

The pressing stage itself begins with application of the matrix to the shape of the pressing machine. Polycarbonate is sprinkled onto the press in the form of granules which at high temperature change into liquid. This liquid is injected into the mould at high pressure. In this manner the substrate of the disc is created. At a further stage the disc is varnished and stuck together from two halves. The discs are scanned and the possible existence of errors and micro-damage is again verified. Defective discs are automatically removed from further stages of the process. We also check the compliance of disc parameters with the Philips specification.

Production capacity

The monthly CD production capacity is up to 20 million items; for DVD 15.5 million items.

With regard to the nature of the activity conducted, the most important documents verifying the quality and legality of the products and services offered by GM Records are the licences held, without which the business would not be able to operate.

These include:
- Philips licence;
- DVD 6C licence granted by Toshiba;
- MPEG LA licence;
- DVD FLLC licence
