MULTIMEDIA XXI WIEKU

Blu-ray, HD DVD

This enables the playback of two video tracks at the same time (which allows you to view the film and documentary materials from the location at the same time for example). If you have an internet connection, then you can click on a product you like, be directed to the website with a precise description of it and even have the option to buy it. This interactivity is something entirely new in the industry. It allows you to save time, eases purchase decision making and above all creates a new form of communication between the viewer – the consumer – and the provider, which can be an advertiser, sponsor or partner for a given product. Interactivity is created at the level of authoring construction.

The process – HD DVD or Blu-ray authoring (preparation of an animated menu – graphics, sound, language versions) may be performed in standard content or advanced content versions. Preparation of authoring in the standard option is a slightly more extended version of what is applied in the case of DVDs. Advanced content makes use of a special programming language called iHD for HD DVDs, thanks to which all interactive functions are created, together with the option of playing back two video streams simultaneously.

From the point of view of the user, it is useful to know that DVDs also play on HD DVD and Blu-ray players, but you can’t watch a VCD on a Blu-ray and HD DVD players.
